Actor Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance After Narrating Contentious Covid Feature
The acclaimed actor has given his voice to a recent film that challenges the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Contentious Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for claims that Covid was a result of a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with controversial radio host a known commentator. The producer wrote online praising Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
Representatives for Neeson have issued a response firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Everyone can acknowledge that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the comment explains. "He has never been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity underscores his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
The response added that the performer was not involved in crafting the documentary's narrative and that questions about its claims should be directed to the creators.
Central Themes Within the Documentary
According to the documentary, the script provided by Neeson includes several provocative statements:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- Kennedy is featured claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Context and Current Debates
The film includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr directed the national health agency to change its official position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism. This claim is also referenced in the film, despite a new report from the global health body stating no such link has been found.
A Previous Statement of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The documentary ends with Neeson's script stating, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter."
