England Bowling Consultant Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability

Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was against England in the final month of 2024.

England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes contest in Australia.

The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be available for the opening match due to his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.

Southee, aged 36, took up a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.

Speaking as the English team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, Southee stated of his availability: "We're still working through the situation at the moment.

"We will determine the outcome over the coming days."

England pace icon Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on November 21.

"I don't think there's ever a bad Aussie side," he remarked.

"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is excellent.

"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."

But, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
